Hi, ijonilyn........and welcome!

Have you posted here before? I think I remember you from when your Mom was newly diagnosed.....is that correct? Sometimes all you can really do for a person going through what your Mom is going through is to BE THERE for them! If her oncologist is talking about "control", that may not be a bad thing, you know! I care for an elderly woman who has nearly the same situation as your Mom........she was diagnosed 7 years ago, was "thought" to be pretty much "cured".....her cancer returned after 6 months and her doctors have opted for controlling her symptoms and making her as comfortable as possible....she's 91 years old now! Hang in there, Hon.....and let us know how your Mom does on the chemo, okay? If you have ANY reservations about your Mom's care, ask her to seek a second opinion........sometimes one doctor will opt for simply controlling their patient's symptoms while another doctor will opt to aggressively treat this type of cancer. Ultimately, it'll be up to your Mom as to what type(s) of treatments she wants! Let us know!

Welcoming (((hugs))),
Linda.

Thank you Linda. I was disappointed that no one had posted - must not be a very popular board. I don't remember if I posted when she was first diagnosed or not. I'm more of a lurker than a poster! :0) So far she's doing quite well - has had 3 chemo treatments with one week off and gonna start the next round on Thursday. Your story about your 91-year-old patient is encouraging.

We live in rural PA but have been happy with the doctors so far. Thankful because other opionions would mean traveling to Buffalo, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh. She had her surgery in Pittsburgh and goes back in June for a follow-up.

Thank you again for posting.

Jonilyn

Hi, Jonilyn!

Yes, I think you DID post quite a while ago! Glad your Mom is doing so well....keep me updated, okay? I'm SO glad she's got good doctors! That means SO much when you're dealing with cancer (of any type!)!

De-lurk (!) and keep posting, Jonilyn, okay? Let me know how your Mom's doing.....and how YOU and the rest of the family are doing too! Cancer in ONE family member affects the whole family, so it's important that ALL of you are doing as well as you can!

Welcome back, Hon!

Love and (((hugs))),
Linda.
