Is this perimenopause?

I am 45 years old and still breastfeeding my 2 year old. Two of my last 4 periods were longer/somewhat heavier than usual and most nights lately, I wake up to damp sheets/bedding. I am stressed and irritable and have little patience (although we have a lot of stressors in our lives right now). I am assuming this is perimenopause. I am due to see my gyn in February.

Have I joined the club?

Thanks.

It could be that your have 'arrived' mika.  But there are many other factors that could be related too.  I am surprised that you are having heavy periods at all if you are still nursing your last baby. But Ma Nature is no stranger to offering surprises to us as we reach this life path!

I am glad you are scheduled to see your doctor in February though, as nothing 'unusual' should be overlooked for long.  The symptoms you mentioned are certainly indicators that peri-menopause may well have begun.

If you have not already done so, may I suggest a visit to our Menopause Oasis (there is a link in my siggy!) to read up on what you may begin to look forward to experiencing!

Please know that you are welcome here anytime ~ to vent, to ask questions, to share experiences, or to just hang out with other gals who understand and care....
