So will one mat do it? I guess maybe I need a blanket? I saw the article today mentioned a mexican blanket. I don't have one of those. Will any blanket do?

I think you could use anything that you have.  You will want to be careful to be sure that your mats and padding slide apart.  I would hate for your mat to slide while doing a plank pose or the Capturing Dadas.  You might find yourself in other position on the floor.

Hi Lisa-
One mat will be great for most things. I wouldn't recommend doing sun salutations on a blanket -- to slippery and not flat enough. A sticky mat should provide most of the padding you need and will definitely keep you from sliding around. If there are poses you want to do -- such as sitting in meditation, which we'll get to next week, or others -- where you need some cushioning, any blanket will do. In general, the thinner and less squishy the blanket the better. With a big fluffy blanket you will sink so much that it may not be stable. That's why most yoga studios use those cotton Mexican blankets -- not much stuffing there! But that is just a guideline, not a rule. Whatever your set up is, just ask yourself, will I be stable? Will I feel safe?

Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Kate
