I finally got my computer to work so I could view the calendar/to-do list. Although I'm starting late, today I worked through day one and two. I live in a 4 bed, 2.25 bath home and the only place I could locate for a decent sanctuary--one with no distractions, tv, computer, etc.--was the upstairs bathroom floor. I grabbed my floor pillow and made it home. I found it difficult to sit quietly for the full 10 minutes. Even had to use a timer to make sure I stayed put long enough. It's nice to have a place to relax though even if it is the bathroom.

Better starting late than never ;o) Maybe you'll find it easier to sit and relax after a few weeks of the Challenge. After all, it is about learning how to relax and unwind among other things.

Hi happygirl99-
Good for you! I used to use the bathroom floor for my sanctuary too, when my fiance and I lived in a 498 square-foot studio. Hey, it wasn't ideal, but whatever it takes, right. :) If you get uncomfortable sitting, you can lit back on the floor with your feet up the wall or the back of the door. That's a nice way to relax.

It is hard to sit still for 10 minutes. Using the timer is a great idea. It may not get easier for some time. I don't want to discourage you, I just want to set the right expectations. Our minds are so used to be in charge every minute of every day. It can take some time for us to learn how to train the mind so that 10 minutes doesn't feel like 10 years. One thing I find helpful when my mind is really agitated is to concentrate on being curious about what's popping up. What's bothering me? What's going on beneath the surface of all that chatter? Imagine yourself as a scientist and your brain as a petri dish. What is going on in there? What do you notice?

Congratulations and keep us posted on how you're doing.
Best,
Kate

Thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, I have missed a couple days again. I went back to work part-time this week after being off due to an injury for 4 weeks. I think it would do me good to set aside some relaxation time in my santuary after getting home each day. I think it would help me to unwind better. So far, I've been using the time in my sanctuary to be by myself, as well as, pray and read my bible. It's helped me to get more centered and has created a peace and calm about my day.
