So it's that time of year again. FLU SEASON! (insert scary music here).

Are you and your family getting the flu shots for the seasonal flu and the H1N1 shot as well?

We have already had the seasonal flu vaccine (yesterday) and my arm still hurts. We'll be getting H1N1 as soon as there are shots and not just nasal sprays available in our area. People with compromised immune systems (or living with those people) should not receive the nasal vaccine because it's a live virus as opposed to the shot which is a dead virus (and there for you can NOT get the flu from the shot no matter what you've heard).

My mom is a medical assistant so she just brought shots home for us so we don't have to make a trip to the germy doctors officer where we might get something. She lives with us so she's a high risk category too. She'll have both shots too (already had the seasonal flu vaccine done). She can't do the nasal because she lives here either.

DS is getting his shot tonight or tomorrow though :( I always hate him getting it even though he's okay in about 2 seconds.

I just got my seasonal flu shot today! I'll get the H1N1 if it is ever available without waiting in huge lines.

I still feel 'new' to this MS diagnosis ( less than a yr ago since mine); ...... so a couple questions......is the flu shot recommended for  people with our diagnosis and is our diagnosis in the 'immune compromised category' ? Just wondering, thanks Teri  :)   diagnosed 11/7/08; on Copaxone

Yes people with MS should be getting the flu SHOT (not the mist) and are considered and immuno compromised category.

The reason you should do the shot over the mist is that the shot is a DEAD virus where as the mist is a weakened live virus.
