I agree with the other posts. I used to host boards and a web site, but could no longer do it because I went to work full time. It has been months and months since I was on this site, and came back when I was diagnosed with OA, knowing I would find great support and wonderful members on here.
I must say that I am not thrilled about the changes so far, and cringe at the thought of more. It can be hard enough just finding the message boards now! This site seems so crowded with ads, links, etc. I understand all of the advertising, but it gets a little silly.
And I read that it is the same price as a pizza a pop, and less than a magazine subscription. Well, that doesn't sell it to me. That doesn't justify it.

I fully agree as well. This entire IVillage Health Board system is in an awful mess now. It is a shame too as we all used to love this board so much and got such help and made such good friends. We are all too busy and tired and hurting to try to even navigate it much anymore. Lia

Cindi, There is still one thing that I don't understand. Why were the boards changed to begin with? It wasn't to make it easier for the users. I keep checking here everyday to see if anyone has posted a message that needs answered, but there is no one here. If you look back until last May you can see more and more people just dropping out. There used to be 10-15 users a day on here. That is the thing that bothers me the most. These boards are not easy to navigate. I keep learning more about them all the time, but like I had told you before, I am not able to come to the boards as often as I used to. So any time I am off for a while, I have to learn all over again. And somedays even if I do find them, it just seems so hard even for me. And I have worked on computers for years. At first I thought most of the problem with the boards was from my condition. I just can't comprehend things anymore. But to look back over all the post from the past, everyone was lost and confused. Wouldn't it benefit IVillage to have more people on the board? I sincerely think a lot of the members, if they had known from the beginning the benefits or reasons for changing format of the boards, they might would have tried harder to figure it out. I think the one thing that really got to the members the most is that something so effortless was purposely made difficult. I guess the boards were easy for a lot of people without any effort at all, but when you get a group that already has a lot of problems like pain, stress, depression, handicaps, etc. these boards can be very intimadating. It gives them the feeling they would be better if they judt didn't try to deal with them. I don't know how many of the boards have been hurt by this change, and you can't say that most of us have tried to hang in there. We have tried to keep this board going. Now I can't take very much credit for that because I have had some health issues that has kept me away a lot, but I did try to support the ones who were there.
The other lady who used to be a cl, also had a good point. Once you find IVillage, it is almost impossible to find the boards. I went to my home page and tried this just by following the leads on the pages. Have you tried this. I'm sure it was even easier for me than for someone new who was trying to find us. I have this page bookmarked, along with my other favorite pages, but for someone who has never been here before it is very complicated. You should try it and see what you think. Or better yet, find someone around you that is not usually on IVillage, and ask them to look up a certain health board and see how difficult it is for them to find it, and while you are at it, why don't you get them to navigate the board once they get to it. That might give you some insight on what we have been trying to say.
Cindi, I am not trying to be complicated. I love IVillage, and I am very grateful, as I imagine a lot of other people are, that they are here so that we can seek help, and help others who share the same disease, ailments, interest, problems, whatever that the other poeple on the board are. IVillage has always been a place for sharing and caring, and I just hate to see the boards fade away. Changing the boards couldn't possibly have healed all those people out there that had OA, so where are they? To my knowledge there hasn't been a cure been developed for this disease, and I don't recall a prevention being found, so where are all those people? In the past they have found us, so what has changed. Or did they find us, but couldn't figure out how to communicate with us. I dont' have the answers and I don't imagine you do either. All I know is that in all the years I have been a member here I have never seen the board as empty as it is right now.
Cindi, like I have tried to say before, I don't want to cause any trouble, I am just trying to get someone to either explain to us what is going on, or to at least take a look at the boards for the way they are right now. I want to see the board growing again. I want to be able to open that page up and see a dozen new messages everyday. Osteoarthritis has not gone away, there are still people out there that is looking for more infomation and help to understand what is happening, and other ways people in the same boat deal with it, or make it easier to live with.
I hope I have not said any thing in this to offend you, upset you, or to make you mad at me. I promise that was not my intention.

I'm so sorry your CL didn't explain this to you when the boards changed a year or so ago. With changes in technology, the servers which supported our boards were no longer adequate. We were very close to having a major crash which would have meant losing all our boards and the archives. There really was no choice to but switch to a format which would allow for growth ... iVillage is growing rapidly. The former board setup couldn't hold the number of posts generated here daily as we have close to 1,800 message boards and so we moved to our current format.
I do hope we'll find a CL for this board soon as I think having an active presence on the board will assure for support and guidance to the wealth of Health information we have here on iVillage.
If you have specific questions on how to use this format, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you :)

Cindi, Debbie did explain to us all that she knew. And she gave us the sight to go to to learn how to use the boards.
