I'm back - and boy, did I miss youall!
Hi, everyone! I'm back! Yea! Today I was able to go to church for the first time, and tomorrow I am starting back to work. I'm so sorry to have been away from the board for so long, but it has been a long, hard road from the accident (a fall down 3 steps while gardening, resulting in a broken leg and broken ankle) through surgery, lying flat on my back for weeks with my leg in a "ski jump" contraption, visiting nurses and home health aides, home physical therapy, and now outpatient rehab. I still have another 4 to 6 weeks of rehab, and I'm going to have a lot to do to get caught up at work, so I don't think I'll be able to continue as a cl - the longest "leave" iVillage normally gives a cl is 4 weeks, and I have been out for 10 already, primarily because I couldn't do stairs, and our computer is on the top floor of our house, so I just couldn't get up here, and when I finally did, I could only sit at the computer for a few minutes, so I had to use the time to check office email. I know iVillage wants the board to have a cl who will be able to spend a lot of time on the board, and I don't want my health issues to create problems for anyone. However, even if I'm not a cl, I will still visit the board and will still stay in touch - I've really missed you all.
The good part of this injury, if there is one, is that my hips and knees have been much better since I'm not on my feet nearly as much as usual. The down side is that my carpal tunnel syndrome and De Quervain's tenosynovitis are worse from using the crutches. I am now allowed to use just one crutch, or even a cane, as long as I wear the cast boot - I still have to use both crutches if I wear a shoe. So the saga continues...
Thanks so much for all your good wishes and kind thoughts while I was recuperating. I missed you!
Gentle hugs,
Debbie
