Hi everyone. I am on the generic wellbutrin for going on 3 weeks now. The first week starting wellbutrin xl 150mg and the second week moved to 300mg. By day four of the second week I started to feel weird. I could only explain it as liking having a bit too much wine, but not enough to feel happy. I'm lightheaded ish and dizzy. I called my doc because I was concerned so she switched me to 150mg of wellbutrin SR twice a day. I started that yesterday and I still feel weird. Yesterday I also had a horrible headache and terrible mood swings. Now I'm yelling at my kids for being kids and then crying about it afterward because I feel bad. Is this normal when starting a new drug? will it pass or am I on the wrong med?

Julie

I have taken generic Wellbutrin and never have had side effects, but then I'm kind of medication resistant.  You might should have eased into it more slowly...150 mgs a day for longer than a week, since it didn't bother you.

Talk to your doctor about it.  Then gradually build up to 300 mgs (that's the theraputic dose) 75 mgs a time.  Cut your 150 mg pill in half.

BTW, are you being treated for depression?

Yes I am being treated for depression. I'm on 300mg now, 150 two times per day. I still have the spinning senstation at times and a headache. The mood swings yesterday were not so bad. Today I see my doctor so we'll see what she wants to do.
