We  have an appointment on Tuesday with an RE.  I'm excited, nervous, sad, etc about it!  I'm wondering what, if any, questions I'll need to ask at this appointment?  What can I expect?

Hi Maureen,

I have been thinking about you so I was glad to see your post. I hope you are doing ok - hanging in there anyway...  My 3rd loss this year was the worst because I felt like we had to stop and assess what was going on.  Every other time we just charged right back in.  But, 3 months out of it I have to say I feel better!

Anyway, I am so glad you are seeing an RE, and how lucky you are to get in so soon!  They can be busy people.

Before we went in, DH and I both had to fill out really long forms.  When we got there for the appt I was actually really ticked because we sat in the office for like 25 mintues and nothing was happening.  We were the only ones there and we had the first appt after lunch. Also we had to pick up DD from school in 2 hours...  Turns out the RE was reviewing all our paperwork. I wished the office lady had just told me that!

Anyway, once we got in there it was great.  He went through each loss one at a time.  He was incredibly thorough.  It was llke the appt with your OB you never get - where you are fully clothed and you actually feel like you are not being rushed!

After that he felt my thyriod on my neck while I drank some water, then did an u/s that found my little fibriod.  Finally we went back in his office and chatted some more about what to do next.  (an hsg and a lot of bloodwork).  Keep in mind that the bloodwork can not happen until you have had 6 weeks since your miscarriage.  I can tell you more about that if you'd like.

Ok, that was kind of a novel.  Please let me know if you have any questions and GL with the appt!  Be sure to let us know what you decide to do.  Remember it is all up to you what you do and don't want to do.  :)  Finally, if you have any ?s be sure to bring them in with you.. I started a list and added a few questions every day until the appt.

I am glad to see that you have an appt set up- that's good. It took me a few days to get over the shock- I hated admitting there was a more serious problem. I had a cheat sheet of questions to ask when we started with our 2nd RE.

Emily pretty much covered it all- long forms, detailed history, ordering of blood work/ tests. Know when you "should be" getting getting your next cycle bc any b/w and test can depend on the days. It's nice bc in my experience RE's office's are so much more flexible since they "understand" that we can't plan everything.

I hope that you are able to find some peace from the appt. Many hugs ~Amy

Maureen,

How did your appointment go?

I hope you don't mind my asking, but what led to your decision to go to an RE (rather than the doctor you had been using before?)
