Hi Ladies,

Not sure if anyone has any experience with this...and i am trying not to just search the internet because the answers seem few and far between...

This is my 3rd miscarriage...the first 2 were in 2007 before we conceived our beautiful DS... and now i have had a 3rd.  I had a d&c 3 weeks ago.  My midwife called me with the pathology today and it showed trisomy 16.  I don't know what caused my first 2 losses... but the second one seemed to be very similar in development to this one...slow to grow, hb came late and was slow...and then the hb was gone.  8-9weeks and measuring more like 6.  So my question is, all the research i have seen says that trisomy defects are normally random... are they always random or just normally random?  I am only 30 so I shouldn't be overly effected by age...at least i thought 30 was still young, maybe not... so do i have an increased risk of this happening again since it has happened once (or maybe 3 times)...just seems like this left me with more questions than answers...

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Christie

Christie,

I'm sorry for your losses.  I don't know much about Trisomy 16, but wonder if you and DH have had karoytyping done on yourselves?  This could tell you if you are genetically predispositioned to have issues and then you would need to go with IVF w/PGD at a minimum to minimize this happening again.  Here's a few links to some info I found.  HTH!
