Hi Ladies,

I would love some feedback from any of you who are or have done self-injectibles with Heparin. I was on 5,000 U/O 0.5 ml twice daily during my last pregnancy and will probably need to be on it again when I'm pregnant again. Does anyone have referrals for a discount pharmacy? I will probably have to pay out of pocket for the meds and am looking for the best price.

TIA,

Rose

Hi Rose,

From what I've found, heparin is MUCH less expensive than lovenox!!! Walmart and Target have been the cheapest for me. Also, there may be a discount by doing a mail order, but not sure how those work!

Thanks so much for the quick response. I'll check out both of those pharmacies. I hope you don't mind me asking a few more questions. What dosage did you take and are they injectibles?

Hi again Rose,

No worries...

I started taking 5,000 units 2x per day then it went to 10,000 units 2x per day.  I switched to Lovenox when I changed insurance plans and when I hit my deductible.  Lovenox was 60 mg 1x per day and now the next time I get pg it will be 40 mg 2x per day of Lovenox and YES it is the injection!  Another thing you may be able to try is to contact the manufacturer and see if they have a grant program or discounts for cash purchases.
