Hi again,

I am writing with a "heavy heart" as this was the week that I was supposed to have my first child.  Instead, I am waiting to schedule my surgery to have the uterine polyp or cyst removed...There are a couple of things that I wanted to ask. I haven't brought this up to my RE, but I guess it's worth mentioning.  I tested positive for a strep infection (they could tell from my urine culture) with my first loss.  During my second pregnancy (before my second loss) I was running a slight fever and I was having terrible night sweats. I never run fevers-I am only 115 lbs and my body temp is usually low.  My doctor at the time said it was due to the morning sickness (I was on zofrom because I couldn't keep any food or liquid down).  Could it be possible that I had an infection that could have contributed to the losses?  I am so baffled and I keep running the possible causes through my mind.  In both pregnancies I had a strong fetal heartbeat and both miscarriages occurred in the late second month (going into third).  Oh, I also have the MTHFR gene mutation (one copy).  I was on aspirin and 4000mg of folic acid and still lost the baby.

Any suggestions? I am just trying to educate myself as much as possible to do everything I can to try to prevent this from happening again,  I know there are no guarantees. It is comforting to write and get support from others. Thank you.

Richele

Richele,

I am sorry for your losses- it's difficult to say the least.

I am not sure about the infection scenario. I know that there is a RE in NY who specializes in that but I never done the extensive research in it since my difficulties are/were else where. It never hurts to explore- I always think that it's good to look at all the options and then move forward from there. I seem to pick up a cold or have symptoms of one when I am in the 1T no matter what time of year it is.

I wish you the best of luck though and hope that as time moves forward that the information you get brings you peace. Keep us posted and take of yourself. Hugs ~Amy
