Yes I have and yet sometimes do experience Dissociation.  Therapy came later in life for me.  I have little or no memory of my childhood and my pre-teens and teens are sketchy.  So is my young adult life and so on.  I did complete a two year period of memory work that was very painful and toxic though of course necessary and oddly enough it was the alters, lived out most of my life, that were the catalyst for my seeking help.  As I hace been a Dissociative for so long integration would be short lived, also I asked the alters what they wanted and now we work as a team as it were with rapid telepathic communication and I am given a great deal of support, love and understanding from my husband of 37 years.  A few of my alters have PTSD and all that goes with that.  As many of us do I fell into addictions, though have been drug and alcohol free for over 30 years.  I quit at a young age.  Many of the alters communicate with me and fill me in on stuff.

I have recently moved to copyright my collection of writings which are in fact a reflection and written in poetic prose ( Judith is the alter who inspires and writes),  Have a diploma as a Natural Health Consultant (Georgie is the alter involved there.)  and so on.

Do I stuggle yet.  OH that would be a YES!

I'm thankful that I'm not alone with this illness.

Thanks.

Hi Multiplicity 13,

Thank you so very much for sharing with us your experiences. I don't have any personal experiences with dissociation (in that I don't dissociate), but a very good friend of mine often dissociates and her alters and I have had many discussions.

It's very interesting that you write that you are working as a team, and that you have rapid communication exchanges with them. My friend and her alters have just read The Silver Boat , and apparently her alters really got it, and it also underlined the working together as a team to get to a better place.

Congratulations on quitting the addictions at a young age and sticking to being clean and sober, and for hanging on whilst you were all doing the therapy work. I think your post will inspire many people. It's great to read that you are copyrighting your writings - are you thinking of publishing these in the near future? How are you going about copyrighting your work? A friend of mine prints out her work, puts them in an envelope and sends it to herself as proof that at a certain date the works had been written and sent.
