Plug-ins cause more harm than good
Air fresheners usually get poor reviews from health experts, for good reason. These devices don't eliminate bad smells, but simply cover them up with other smells. Nevertheless, air fresheners, particularly the plug-in variety, remain popular in homes and offices. Air fresheners come in other forms, of course‑-aerosol sprays, wicks, heated pots‑-but the plug-ins now dominate the market. Often pine or lemon-scented, these look like night lights, and when you plug them into an outlet they use a tiny electric motor to generate their "freshening" smells.
