Do your real life friends practice Reiki? Are you in a group of some kind?

Some of my RL friends are reiki practitioners, though we are not part of a group. My Reiki Master is a close friend of the family's, married to a close collaborator of my mother's who considers us family. She used to have a group of students meet on a regular basis for reiki exchanges but she doesn't do that now.

My massage therapist is the one who introduced me to Reiki officially.  I knew Pops practiced Reiki, but I didn't know much about it.  Tina gave me two books to read, and I was off and running.  She and I have become friends as a result of this journey.  My Reiki Master, Adrienne, and I have become friends as well since I started training with her a year ago.  Another Reiki Master I would consider a friend/colleague is a retired hospital chaplain I have known for many years.  I met two Reiki practitioners in my Healing Touch 1 class, but we have not stayed in touch.  Other than that, I know of people who practice Reiki, but I don't know them personally.

I don't belong to a Reiki group.  I'm not sure when I would fit it in, but I wish I had the support of others nearby who were practicing and trying to explain it to family and friends who look at you like you've got two heads.  I will try to find a way to fit it in, though, if I start training because I will want my students to have that support themselves ....

I think what's great is that so many people contributed to your journey. We had talked about reiki so many years ago, and that kind of nudged you and showed you that there was a path called reiki. When Tine gave you the books, it helped you take that decision to take the the path, and Adrienne was the person who took you through it.

Well, you are part of this group already ;-)

There was a time here, about 10 years ago when we'd meet online once a week for an hour-long chat. The chats were at 10 or 11 pm EST, to accommodate everyone - it was pretty handy for me since it was mid-morning for me. The first part of the chat was catching up with everyone, and there were lots of hugs and chatter involved. The second part would be a meditation, which Moon or Debbie (who were the CLs then) would lead. The we would do a group reiki send for all the people on our lists.

When you start training, a virtual group might be one way for you to fit it in. My Reiki Master had a group that met once a month ~ we were all so busy that once a month was the most we could do. In a city like Jakarta, it would often take people an hour just to get to her place, and an hour to get back.

Oh, I know!  I'm so thankful.  And really, YOU were a big part of my getting through it, too.  Even though *I* consider you a RL friend, I wasn't sure it fit the official definition since we're on-line buddies.  ;o)  I have colleagues who are quite supportive as well, and that is nice.  They don't know a lot about it, but they're willing to let me amble on about it ad infinitum.  LOL  It helps.

And I *am* part of this group.  (I was thinking RL.)  I plan to participate more regularly.  I'm thankful the group is here.  :o)  Good point about offering a virtual group.  If I could get them to come here, wouldn't THAT be awesome?!  It would help tremendously considering my schedule.

    Big hugs ...
