I just called Humira patient assistance program to follow up on my application. I was uninsured for 5 months and will run into the pre existing condition bologne with my new insurance starting Monday.

Apparently I make too much money. I just got a raise at work but even before the raise I'm over the income limit. I guess that means I can afford the $700+ a month for Humira. LOL I qualify for low income housing in my city so I can't be making that much right? Ugg...

I'm gonna cry. I'm in the middle of a pretty bad flare and my usual optimistic outlook on life is taking a pretty big hit.

I refuse to let this effect my snowboarding season! I know I can go back on some cheaper meds but none work as well for me as Humira does. Another round of prednisione might be the way I have to go. :(

I am so sorry Jenny.  It just isn't fair.  Hang in there.  I will be praying there is a way to stay on Humira.

Hugs,

Vicki

(((((((((((((( Jen ))))))))))) I'm really sorry to hear this.  I don't know what the criteria for getting assistance is, but paying $700 a month for a single drug is far too much.  They need to get into the real world where people live.  I know for myself that even on SSDI, I miss getting assistance with my Part D drugs by a few dollars.

Have you tried places like www.pparx.org?  They cover all different kinds of medications and might have a more reasonable criteria.

As for snowboarding, I don't think it would hurt to go on prednisone for awhile.  You might be able to take a very low dose with good results and then taper off.  Don't give up, Jen.  There has to be a way to get you back on the drug that works for you.  Happy Halloween!!
