Hi there:

I was recently told i have genital warts. I am now 30 weeks pregnant and they were no there before i got pregnant, now i dont really care to know or find out who i got it from, ( it wont change the fact that i have it) what i am most concerned about is having them while im in labor. Im pretty sure giving birth is complicated enough let alone giving birth with GW. And aside form that now i dont want to have any of my family members in there except my bf. I have been trying to get rid of them with AVC but it hasnt really worked and my doctor wont treat them. I really dont know what to do. Maybe someone can let me know of a safe and effective way to get rid of them at least for now so that i dont have to be ashamed when i give birth. Any advice will help.. Thanks!!

Have you done much research about having genital warts and being pregnant? From what I've found, a pregnant woman shouldn't use medications with salicylic acid and that's what usually gets rid of warts. If your doctor decided not to treat them, you may want to stick with what he/she says. OR get a second opinion. And as far as being ashamed of your family being in the room and possibly seeing them, you may want to talk to those family members beforehand and see how they react with the news that you have HPV. If they're supportive, I say don't worry about what they think, this is the day you're bringing new life into the world. If they are, direct them towards the waiting room. Overall, don't stress out and do your research to educate yourself about HPV. Know that you can always come here with any questions or concerns and good luck with the new baby. :)
