If I can just find one person to talk to about this I'm sure it will help so much.

I found out about a year ago that that I have the first stages of HPV (from an abnormal pap) so I immedietly started with the series of 3 Gardisol shots. I did what I was supposed really have been trying to eat better and stay healthy for the possssssible chance to clear this by my immune system. No luck, I got all my Gardisol shots and regular check ups and after having my last shot and my check up two weeks ago my doctor called me and informed me my tests came back abnormal once again. I just can't win. So now I have to get a biopsy/culposkopi? I really have no idea where to go from here, it's confusing. I've been reading about the possible case of having cervical cancer and what the effects are from that. Not being able to have children really scares me, I'm only 20 years old and to think about that makes me want to throw up. Will this ever go away? Will I be able to have children?

What do I need to do?!

Breathe. :)

The Gardisil won't cure the HPV you already have it just protects you from the others (BUT Gardisil only protects against the 4 most common types of HPV). Did your doc tell you if it was mild dysplasia? Moderate? Severe? The biopsy/colposcopy (never can remember how to spell that word, it may be right?) consists of the doctor pinching a small amount of tissue from your cervix where the abnormal cells are. It does sting a little and feels like menstrual cramps while it's being done, which fortunately only takes not even 5 minutes.

Now, if you have mild dysplasia (pre-cancerous cells) it does NOT mean you have cancer. It could turn into cancer if you completely let yourself go; i.e., not eating healthy, getting a little exercise, not stressing out, etc. With mild dysplasia, you need to keep up with regular check-ups just to keep a watch on it. Below is a good website about dysplasia:
http://www.womenshealthchannel.com/cervicaldysplasia/index.shtml

You can have children with cervical dysplasia, although it may act up during the pregnancy. I found this though about pregnancy and cervical CANCER:
"
It is unfortunate that a woman cannot get pregnant after treatment for most stages of cervical cancer."
http://www.cervicalcancer.org/pregnancy.html

It's all hard to understand and figure out all the confusing information at first, but you'll get it. If you have any questions, comments, need to vent or anything, just come on by. Good luck to ya. :)
