1 y/o w/Egg Allergy - Resources?
Hi all -
I am turning to IVillage once again for answers to life's great questions. ;-)
My one year old has an egg sensitivity/allergy. We haven't been to an allergist. We've been giving her egg yolk for several months. Since she is 3 weeks from Birthday #1, Daddy scrambled a whole egg over the weekend. After a couple of bites, she broke out in hives all over her face, her eyes watered and swelled, and she started coughing and sneezing.
She's been eating bread - even french toast - without an obvious reaction. However, she's had a wicked, wicked diaper rash for about 8 weeks. We've been to the doctor 3 times thus far. It isn't your typical diaper rash caused by dampness and soiled diapers. What happens with her is that she'll have a completely clear bottom (if she's gone a while without a "dirty"). As soon as she has a BM, just the contact with that on her skin (I change her immediately) causes a reaction that causes open sores. So, I wonder if this is due to an [egg] allergy as well.
So, my questions - is the caustic diaper rash something that's typical in an infant/toddler egg allergy? and . . .
Where can a find a good educational resource on what foods are "safe" and how to safely prepare foods for her, while we try and eliminate egg from her diet?
TIA!!
