Hi and welcome
Bronchial spasm can be anything, and this is typically the type of diagnosis a generalist will give, I would strongly advise you to get to see an allergist or lung specialist to get a proper diagnosis.
I think it could be a mix of asthma and allergies, and going for a chest X-ray will in all likeness show nothing, unless you had a few really bad asthma attacks that left some scaring in the lungs.
Albuterol is a medicine that is used only in time of emergencies (meaning during an attack or when symptoms are felt) typically it brings fast relief to congested tightened lungs, it shouldn't be used regularly, and the rule of thumb for asthmatics is that if you use it more that 3 times a week it means your asthma isn't properly controlled.
Asthma need in some cases to be controlled with "maintenance" meds such as inhaled corticosteroids and avoidance of triggers, which can be anything from an allergen to just a strong smell or an irritant airborne particle (doesn;t have to be an allergen, just big enough to irritate one's lung), exercise, cold air...The first few months after being diagnosed with asthma are what I call the "tailoring months" because during that time you work as a team with your Dr to adjust the treatment to just the right level, learn to identify your own personal trieggers (we all have different things that sets us off), how to avoid or manage these triggers and go back to living a symptom free life.
Keep us posted on how things are going ok?
