Hi Kim,

I'm sorry you've been going through a rough patch lately, I do hope you'll tell your doctor what is going on.  I know that the thought of going in-patient for a time is scary if you've never been, but it may be just the thing to help you get back on track and get things figured out.  Some of our other members have experience with that and will be able to answer any questions you have about it.

In the meantime, please remember that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and that there is help to make things better.

If you are in danger, please seek help immediately by calling 911, your local authorities, or the Suicide Hotline, 1-800-273-TALK.

You're welcome Kim.  Just remember that the antidepressant will probably take a couple of weeks before you really start to notice a difference.  I know it's hard, but just hang in there and things will improve.  Getting back into therapy should help as well.

I'm really glad you opened up with him and let him know what's been going on and how you're feeling.  Please be sure to call him or go to the ER if you feel you might harm yourself.  We're here too if you need to talk.

Hi, Kim & welcome! I am so sorry to hear what's been going on. Later you posted that you saw your dr. & opened up to him. That is great news! It's also encouraging that you made a plan w/him to call if things got worse. Though inpatient is something many of us would like to avoid, it is an option. It would be no different than a diabetic who needs inpatient to get their insulin dose tuned up. Please don't feel embarrassed about it & put it off too long. There are others, including myself who went IP because things were too much for us to handle.
The lexapro is a good med. It does take 4 to 6 weeks to reach it's optimal effect. There is always the possibility that the dosage may need to be adjusted. This is the hard part when we feel depressed. Everyone would like to be better...yesterday;) Be patient. Keep as busy as you can. Exercise is a great stress buster & releases endorphins(feel good hormones) that make us feel more balanced & not as depressed.
I admire you for posting here. TBH, you have a lot going for you. Reaching out to others isn't easy. We all have the need to connect w/others. That's why our board is here. Post anytime. Vent if you need too. We'll be glad to lend an ear & give you the support you need. Please keep us updated. You CAN & WILL get better. GL & GBU! (((hugs))) jan
