Laurie, I have not experienced a high and low side of my thyroid when I had it, to my knowledge anyway as that has not been mentioned to me--I do know that my left side was not working at all due to the "cold" nodule (which they didn't know it was cold at the time), and my right side was working double time. They couldn't figure out if my nodule was cold or not, but if they know it's "cold", I am pretty sure they are going to present you with the information that you will undoubtedly need surgery to get it out as cold is not good news. Usually the fnb is a good test, and I can't see why they couldn't get what they wanted unless it is a lot deeper than where they can reach. The US is a good test also--an easy test to go through too. I'm sorry that you have to wait so long for this--I know they whipped me around so fast because they couldn't get any answers from test to test, and seeing as they couldn't figure out why I had a nodule and they weren't sure of anything, then the surgery and that was the proof positive right there when the pathology report came in a week later that I had ca.
If they know you have a cold nodule, don't be frightened, but I think you will be in for the removal of either the left side or possibly a TT. I wish you luck. Hugs. Bea
