Hi Everyone,
It's been so long since I actually posted and not just rambled some positive thoughts to a newly diagnosed. Four years ago I was diagnosed while pregnant with ds. I had my thyroid removed during my 2nd trimester of pregnancy then 2 rounds of RAI after ds was born. Thought I had this whipped and didn't need support from you any more. Gosh, I had to chase a little wild boy around and went back to work part time, didn't have time to keep up to date with my cyber friends. I'm sorry I left! I received so much support, guidance, concern and love. Will you take me back, please?
I was just diagnosed AGAIN. Pap Thy Ca returned in several lymph nodes. Had surgery to remove all the junk that found it's way back on 8/25. I am meeting with endo doc tomorrow to find out when I can drink some more RAI.
I guess I'm feeling a little like "poor me" but trying to keep my chin up. My family is having a hard time with the recurrance, my son made me cover the stitches to get a kiss and I thought I was finished with this.
Anyone else on round 2? Thanks for reading all my rambling! Lynn

Hi Lynn,

It's nice to hear from you again but I'm sorry it's because you're going through all this again.  Your case is proof that everyone with thyca has to keep getting their check-ups and it's like any other cancer - it could return.

Yes, we will definitely "take you back."  Did they find the cancer after a total body scan?  For your yearly checks, did you go on the LID and quit taking your meds or were you able to go on thyrogen (I think that's the word I want.)

Come back and post whenever you have a minute.  Thanks.

Hugs,

Calley7

Thanks Calley,
You are always so gracious and welcoming =)

I go every 6 months for a blood draw. My numbers kept going up so we knew something was brewing. I was scheduled for an neck ultrasound a year ago. The x-ray tech thought she found something and set up an ultrasound biopsy. When it was time for the biopsy nothing was found but scar tissue. Now, a year later the tumor on my left lymph node had a scan and biopsy. I think you know the rest. I was on Levoxol (off now waiting for RAI). I'm not sure I know what LID is?

Thanks so much for your thoughtful welcome! Lynn

Hi Lynn,

The LID is the low iodine diet.  I know the other girls here have to go on that when they are off the meds and going hypo for their total body scans.

It looks as though you have a good medical team that is keeping on top of your situation.  Will you have to stay in the hospital for the RAI or can you come home?  Of course, home means everyone else has to keep their distance.

LID= low iodine diet; of course. I will begin that in a couple of weeks. I do feel like my medical team is on the ball and I am happy with my care. I will not have to stay in the hospital after RAI. I will stay with one of my friends (DS's Godmother). DH and DS will stay home with MIL =) DS will be spoiled even more.
Thanks again Calley! Lynn
