Wow.  This year is sure flying by fast.  October is one of my favorite months here in Michigan.  The air gets a little bite to it, the trees turn glorious colors, (hockey season starts!), and nature rustles and crackles as the vegetation dries up for the coming winter.

On Friday, I get my new furnace installed.  With all the rebates and tax credits, I was able to buy the top of the line 95% efficient unit for less than the "cheap" unit.  I still can't afford it, but I can't afford not to considering the condition of the 24 year old piece of junk there now!

On Monday, I start my new position as the Exec Assistant to the North American Program Leader and Site Manager.  I'm thrilled!  I have worked with this guy before and he is one of those strong, silent types who gets things done without raising his voice.  He's fair, well respected and very capable.  It isn't going to bring me anymore money, but it carries a lot of weight in other ways.  I'm so glad I still have a job, and this one in particular.

SOOO....

What are you doing in October?  Have plans?  Do you celebrate Halloween?  What do you like best and least about this time of year?  What's going on in your life?

Bink

Autumn in Mississippi is usually hot, but this year it looks to be wet.  The leaves as of yet  are not changing; we are usually slower to see that.  Maybe later in the month and into November.  I am enjoying the beginning of some cooler temps, but that means 80 degrees still here.

We got a new ac/heating unit, too, Bink!  Ours was terribly small and not very efficient; it was what the builder put in the house 13 years ago.  We got the top of the line unit as well and are hoping for some savings on the utility bill.

Congrats on the new job!  It sounds tailor made for you.  I have always heard good things come to those that wait, and this certainly sounds like it was worth waiting for.  A good boss makes going to work every day a pleasure instead of drudgery.

We live in the country, not in town, so Halloween is fairly quiet around our house.  Now that the boys are grown, there is no more yard rolling to deal with - thank goodness!  Cleaning up all that toilet paper got old!  We do look forward to our only trick-or-treaters; the grandkids come all dressed up before they head out.  I look forward to our little "goblins".

As for me, I hope for a good October - September was a bad month!  I still can't seem to shake the complications of the swine flu - the pneumonia and asthmatic bronchitis do not want to go away.  I am waiting and hoping my vision improves after the injection two weeks ago.  I go back to the retina specialist November 2....not looking forward to that.

UGh. I'm so sorry your still dealing with those things.

How is your eye sight right now? Is there any changes since you last posted?

Bryn is doing well in school so far. But we had to stop the equipment gymnastics b/c of her recent vision loss (like she had much to loose..). So we have her in the rhythmic gymnastics and ballet instead. She has some issues seeing during class, but she is throroughly enjoying it.

We have had a bunch of appts the last few months. Some good news, some not so good. It looks like we are making the 20hr trip to Shriners Hospital b/c of Bryns limb legnth issue (her right is alot longer then the left).

Other then that she is doing awesome.

Jenna and Michael, lucky to have Adam, Mady, Aidin and Bryn.

Wow Bink, you have some great things going on this month!  That's fantastic about your new furnace being top of the line and getting so many great credits/rebates for it.  :)

How are you liking your new job?

I'm loving it!  My new boss has passed some responsibilty directly to me, and for the first time since "they" bought us in 2007, I feel valuable and appreciated.  Thanks for asking.
