The weather is finally cool, in fact some days downright cold! Things are looking up, here! Woohoo!

While still unemployed, dh is doing contract work for a couple of the companies he worked for in the past. It's gone from "maybe one day a week" to every single day. He's training customers online, doing "webinars" that he wrote. We have to contact our CPA, to find out about taxes and social security payments we have to make, since it's his own pay, a 1099 form, not through a company.

The state finally got the unemployment figured out, just in time for him to get these contract jobs! LOL Somehow, that figures! He's still eligible for unemployment, but only for the weeks he doesn't work.

We're making progress with his health issues, too. We've been adding foods, to see how he reacts, and there are many things he can have. Still no wheat, gluten, onions, garlic, yeast or eggs, but it's making me be a lot more creative with the cooking. I read every label, and am amazed at what's in some of the things I used to buy all the time. It makes for a lot more scratch cooking, but it sure tastes better. As a side effect, we're both losing weight. Not having heaping plates of pasta with bread and dipping olive oil really makes a difference! LOL

I just have to remember to have my salads and other leafy greens to maintain my clotting factor. If I don't, it's scary, but I believe the ob-gyn that my "problem" was from the blood thinners. There seems to be a delicate balance, and I have to be aware of it.

All in all, things are good.

Jan

Well, it's good that your husband is getting the jobs.  It sounds like you're taking control of your medical problems  from a nutritional aspect  good luck to you.. Reading that made me hungry for Italian bread dipped in basil/olive oil though!    Rose

Hi Jan

Happy Fall to you. We were having some hot weather there last week after some very nice days of the middle 80's. We even saw three days of 100 again. However today it is 82 outside and just beautiful again. Suppose to stay this way the rest of the week.

I am glad they got the unemployment problem fixed even though your Dh is working some contract jobs he might still need to use the unemployment.

I am so glad to hear you are getting the issues with food worked out for your Dh. I bet you are loosing weight. Amazing how a few changes can make a big difference in how our bodys reacts. I agree cooking from scratch is a much better way to do things.  It takes more planning and abit more hard work but things sure do taste so much better. With Ds no longer living with us dh and I have gone back to eating fresh food and scratch cooking most things again. I am hoping it will help me to get off some of the weight I have gained lately.

Yes you must eat those leafy greens my friend.

Love ya

Jan your post had me smiling big time!  I am so glad that things are looking up for you and your husband.  I know it has been a big load for you two to deal with , and to hear things are going well is so good.

Keep it up and remember when the down days happen there are more up days ahead.

Hugs,

Hi Jan...good to hear you sounding good!  Very impressed and proud of you for being so on top of all that dietary stuff! Good for you! Wish I was that disciplined.

Glad your DH is finding some work, too....he is still valued, and in demand! Nice he gets out of your hair, too, eh? I'd probably end up strangling DH if he was laid off.
