I don't have anything to talk about except the bargains I got at the grocery store today.  Kroger had pork loin roasts on sale for $.99!  I bought 2 of them that weigh in at a little over 11 pounds each.  I brought them home and cut them in half, threw one portion into my oval crockpot and it's beginning to smell really good.  The rest I wrapped in foil and put in the freezer.  They also had frozen veggies at 10 for $10, so I stocked up on some of them too.  I've decided that I won't have to go back except for things like RX, yogurt, bread, or something that just has to be fresh.

Y'all join me at the sink!

Sometimes, the Kroger has turkey for $.99/lb, but they are usually very big ones just after a holiday.  I don't usually buy them, even though the temptation is very great.  It would take DH and me f-o-r-e-v-e-r to eat one the size they have.

New new Food Lion that opened closer to home has been a very big disappointment.  Their prices are too high, and we can't get used to the layout of the store.  I do hope they are successful though, because they are closer.

Hi Lottie:

I do buy the large turkeys after the holidays, I just have the butcher cut them in half.  That way I have two pieces of bird.  DH and I can manage half just fine, then I freeze the other half for later.  Those saws in the butcher dept. can cut through a frozen bird really easy.

We don't have a Krogers, but we do have a QFC which is owned by Krogers.  I do most of my shopping there.  But right now I have way too much food in the house, so I'm staying away from the store for anything other than milk, bread and fresh vegs.

Hope you roast turned out good.  I love pork roast.  Can't beat it for flavor.

 Always, Lou

Lou, that's exactly what I do with the big turkeys. I love being able to roast just 1/2 when company comes in Jan. Now you've got me yearning for it - LOL. But - so tired from trip that I'm practically numb today. Couldn't find one pair of clean jeans to wear, so I'm wearing my PJ bottoms with a sweatshirt around the house. Perfect napping attire..
