Yesterday was a lost cause for me after lunch. I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open so finally when John was taking a little nap in the afternoon, I got on the couch and snuggled down under a fleece throw and dropped right off to sleep. I didn't even hear him come through the living room when he got up. Guess I must really have needed that rest. This morning so far I am feeling better, but I think I might need a couple more days to get totally rested up. Is this just me or do any of you need more time to rest up, if you are "very" busy?

Have a grand day and don't forget those SMILES, I have missed them while I was away.

I hear you on that rest thing. I can't figure out if I'm still tired from the big trip 2 weeks ago or fighting some virus. Just have no energy, drag myself around the house to do some simple thing, like make a pot of tea, then it's back on the sofa. Once on the sofa, I can't keep my eyes open. I just took a shower and I'm wiped out. We went to 2 family gatherings over the weekend and a lot of the people were in various stages of colds, etc., so I'm hoping it's my body working hard to keep me from getting so sick. If so, I will keep on resting as long as needed. A sure sign of illness for me is being chilly, as I'm always hot. Well, today I can't get warm enough.

After I rest a bit more, I want to cut up an arm roast that DH got at the store today and make some beef stew. DH is an old-fashioned guy and thinks stew is fabulous. Now that I have a Dutch oven big enough, I think I'll put dumplings on the top. Good old Bisquick variety, nothing time consuming today. I saw a recipe for cornmeal dumplings and figure they would be good with a pot of ham & beans.

Back to the sofa,
Jacquie

Jacquie:

Please be careful and get a lot of rest.  I now have a rebound cold.  Visited a good friend last week, she had a cough.  Came home on Thursday and by Saturday I was once again at the walk-in clinic.  My cold was back.  Your right about being cold.  Last week I was freezing, today I have a plugged sinus and a bad cough.  I am so terrified of getting the H1N1 flu.  I now go to the DR right away, don't try to treat myself at home.  Thank goodness for my DH, he has taken over babysitting for DGrnS (2 1/2 yrs).  Can't have him ill.

Your ham & beans sound delish.  Nice your DH eats anything.  Does make it easier on the whole family.  Enjoy your stew.  It is fish night in our house.

 Always, Lou
