In many homes, the kitchen table is a gathering spot, a place where friends and family share food, conversation, laughter and a few tears. I'd like to encourage everyone to treat our new Kitchen Table the same way.

You don't need to have a problem or question in order to take a seat, though those are welcome here too. But this is also a good place to share some news, tell us a joke, vent about a pet peeve, find a shoulder to cry on if that's what you need at the moment, or just stop by to say hello.

So pour yourself a cup of coffee (or whatever you'd prefer), pull up a chair and let's visit, shall we?

I just found this board and think I will love it.
Have had a very difficult week and sometimes I think we just need to vent, find a shoulder to cry on.
My dad who I haven't seen in pretty long time is coming to visit tomorrow and he just lost his woman friend (who I never met) but have talked to on the phone and felt close to.
I feel an un-bearable sadness about her passing and also feel a bit ambivalent about his "visit".
I have had many health issues the past two years and it has impacted greatly on my LIFE.
While reading the introduction to the kitchen table I had many fond memories of ours at home when my beloved mom was alive.
Always a pot of tea or coffee on and I really do miss that...
Just feeling a bit sad today...

Hi, Night Angel, I'm so glad you decided to stop by! We all need a place where we can open up about how we're feeling, and you are always welcome to do so here.

My condolences to both you and your dad on the loss of his companion, and I hope your visit with him goes well despite your ambivalence about it.

Like you, I have fond recollections of all that occurred around the kitchen table in our house years ago. I am truly blessed to still have my mother, who is wise, funny and resilient as ever at 89.

By the way, is that your cat in your avatar?

Just waiting for my dad trying to be patient but I am on pins and needles.
I do have ambivalent feelings but I think it is just because I am so emotional.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry...kwim?
Again thank-you so much. so glad you have your mom...missing mine and wish my dad didn't have to suffer his loss.

Lovely place you have here! I'm glad I dropped by. I want to thank you helping me out while I was away. Now I'll have some of that coffee, please, and would you be interested in a few of these apples I brought back from the countryside?

apples Pictures, Images and Photos

I have plenty, about 15 kilos! Since I want to avoid getting colic from eating too many of them, it looks as though I'll be making more apple butter.

How have you been?

Prospero:
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
