I was recently made the lead of our group of four people. I'm not their boss, just someone they need to come to first before going to the big boss with any work related questions. The following event occurred and I need advice.

Someone outside the group sent out an email asking that we send them copies of invoices we received. Everyone in the group received an email but one person. I sent my first batch of invoices out to the people in my group and left the other group out and not intentionally because I intended to find out if they wanted accounts receivable or payable or everything. Right after I sent the email, I received a forwarded email from one person in the group cc the 3 of us reminding us we need to cc the other people. Is it her job to do that? Am I wrong to take it the wrong way? I feel like she is trying to make me look bad!

Hi senna. Welcome to the board.

If it will do no harm just go ahead and cc the other people too. You might explain that you were not asked to do so.

I don't think thye were trying to make you look bad. They just did not know you were not asked to cc them. But I would ask someone about it for advice in cases like this. There must have been a reason you were not asked to cc them but maybe it was just not considered necessary to the powers that be.

Let me know how this works out. It does not sound like a big problem but if it turns into one you can deal with it then by just expalining that you felt it was alright to cc that group. If the info is highly confidential then get advice first. Take care. MaryAnne
