I am SO frustrated. I've decided it is better for me to just mess around online than to actually attempt to get any work done.  The reason for this is because no one at my job seems capable of independent thinking.  I have to answer questions, pick up the slack of others, and basically just be the office gopher approx. every 2-5 minutes.  Then I have to recenter my focus and try to pick up what I was doing without missing things or redoing work I've just done such as calculations and notes.

The most annoying part is I'm supposed to be in the background of the office...no contact with clients or anything unless the person absolutely cannot be handled by the receptionist.  It's nice to be needed but I feel like I'm being taken advantage of simply because I have experience.

Have you spoke about this to your immediate supervisor? Could it be that what you perceive your job duties to be and what your boss perceives them to be; are two totally different things?

Do you feel comfortable enough to suggest a sit-down meeting with your boss to discuss things? Do you think he/she will be supportive and offer you some positive feedback?
