I worked for a company that had a really high turn over rate. The average length of employment is between 6 months to a year. I was with them for 3 years and saw many people come and go.
To answer your question If there is a low retention rate then yes something probably is wrong. Like in my case it was really really bad management, shady practices and lack of caring for the employees that drive the company.
My "former" company for instance a year ago hired a new sales manager and demoted the existing sales manager of 7 years to a sales person...took his company car and his salary.
The company terminated me over another that was disruptive to work flow who argued with management regularly who allowed her home life to effect her productivity...and might I add who is ready to quit which I hope she does because then the company will be in big trouble. (thats mean of me) When I started with the company back in 2006 there was a staff of 15 when I got terminated counting me gone they are a staff of 9. Doesnt say much for the company.
Personally I should have quite a long time ago because I as treated horrible I was sucking it up because DH is layed off too. So now we are both unemployed.
I hope that helps you out
