Fifty & Up Friends

Hi Girls,

I've enjoyed reading all the posts tonight.
Great to know what everyone's doing.

I attached a couple of photos taken of my neighbor's house.  None of the photos were very clear.  In the one you can see that the tornado sucked the garage door off and tossed it back into the garage onto the car...and the other is of a broken window.  Several of my neighbors are having to move out of their house while the repairs are being made.  Our street has been filled with trucks ( Movers, Roofers, Builders, Insurance Adjusters, etc.) all week.  I feel so badly for all the people and so fortunate for us.  The weather has been gorgeous this week which is helpful to everyone.  Workers are supposed to be here tomorrow to "tarp" our roof until it can be roofed.

DD & her boyfriend broke up yesterday - so we've had lots of drama, but today seemed better.  The tears have subsided.  Remember how a broken heart feels?  It's all just part of growing up, but it feels really lousy at the time - so I hear.  LOL

Our women's group is providing childcare at the church Saturday as a fundraiser for the group.  Not looking forward to that but I'll show up and give it my best.  I've still got more planning to do before I'm ready.

We went to two movies over the weekend, "Amelia" and "Stepfather".
I found "Amelia" very interesting...and "Stepfather" appropriately spooky for a Halloween Night.

I'd give myself a "B" in regards to my diet.
Still hanging in there and hating every excess pound.

DH bought a new pickup last night.
Princess says it will be hers next year.
I'm totally SURPRISED that she wants to drive a TRUCK!!
Who would have thunk it???!!!

I've got to go color my gray roots now - beauty is hard work, doncha know?!

Still praying for Pam and Curt.

Your city is still making the news up here. They've been talking about the flooding in your area. You sure did take a huge hit.

Poor DD...yes, I do remember the pain of a breakup as if was yesterday. The last one was only 10 years ago and it was as painful as it was when I was your DD's age.

Good luck chasing the "rug rats" on Sunday. Sure hope nobody brings a sick child to you! Grrrrrr

I'm giving myself a C- on my diet. But I did get my fluffy butt back to Curves on Mon.

Deb I'm sure your neighborhood will be a while recovering.  I do hope your neighbors were not hurt and are just dealing with repairs.  I can't remember if you mentioned anybody getting hurt.  I still remember years ago when we had one hit just up the road from us. We still see a few signs of it left, but the spot in the road has slowly come back to normalcy. If there is such a thing.

Oh no! I'm so sorry for Princess's broken heart. Being young she'll get over it quickly, but until then...sigh...

As far as your diet, I feel your pain. The two days we were at the beach I gained FIVE POUNDS!  Tell me! How do you gain 5 pounds in 2 days. We did a lot of walking and bike riding in those two days too! Do you know how hard my heart dropped when I got home and hit the scales to discover I had GAINED! It has taken 3 weeks to get back to my prevacation weight. My frustration is, when I'm bad I can see results immediately! But when I am good, I either see none or very minute results.

What kind of pickup did your dh buy? We have been looking at the new Fords and I'm getting stars in my eyes, but the price tag holds me back.

Have fun babysitting. I think your women's group is so great and very motivated to doing good things.

My goodness, that's some powerful wind to move that heavy garage door!  Thank God no one was hurt.  "Things" can be replaced or repaired, but that's not always so with people and furbabies.

It's been a long time since I had a broken heart, but yes, I do remember that awful feeling.  Poor Princess......she doesn't know it now, but she'll get over him once the next "ONE" catches her eye...;-).

Speaking of Princess, haven't you heard?  TRUCKS are the coolest thing to drive these days, especially if you're a girl.  They are all the rage in Atlanta....I see lots of young girls driving pickup trucks.  Go figure....

Good for you!....a "B", huh?  Sad to say, but I have to give myself an "F" on dieting.  I just haven't been able to get a handle on it.  Still exercising faithfully (Curves this morning), but ATVM I am sitting here typing and eating Hershey's kisses (the dark chocolate ones).  Baaaadddddd....................
