Our 9 yr old DGrD has been sick with flu and finally felt normal today. DDIL is out of town, DS had to take off 2 days of work to be at home, so I volunteered to visit for the afternoon. The girls love to go on nature walks with me, then wind up at the playground of the school the younger one (7) attends. DH very much approved of the walk as weather was 60 & sunny. It was just perfect, we strolled along (no fast walking for these girls), chat, check out what's happening at the local creek, play, then went back to the house for hot chocolate. Funny thing - got there and found they were out of the little packets of cocoa mix. Girls were bummed, but I asked if they had chocolate syrup, and yes, they did. So, Grandma heated up the milk, they stirred in the syrup and were delighted with there newly found creation. DDIL nicely left some yummy pumpkin bread (which I sure didn't need), then we played Sorry until DS came home. Guess I'm getting old - really simple things can please me these days.

Will be busy on Sat. making eldest (28)DGrDs birthday cake for the Sunday dinner. Am wondering if I'll ever get the windows cleaned & drapes back up. Weather is predicted to be in low to mid 60s for the week and I will have a hard time staying in the house. Think I'll use those early morning hours to get the cleaning done with, then can play.

Besides having a heavy heart for our Pam, a son (Army major) of a long-ago friend was buried this week, and DHs good friend reports that the last ditch experimental thyroid cancer treatments are not getting as good a results as expected. Just glad the sun has been out, or I might wind up curled up in a closet somewhere trying to forget the world.

Jacquie sounds like a wonderful day. I think we are finally old enough to enjoy  and appreciate the simple things. Life has a way of kicking us all in the stomach and these simple things get us through.  The curtains and windows will still be there when you are ready.

Happy birthday to your dgrds. They growup as fast as the kids don't they.

I feel like you, so be careful, you may have company in the closet.

Continued prayers for Pam and family.

((hugs))

Wasn't yesterday a perfect day for qa walk. I think the entire weekend will be like thqt. I even had my front door open most of the day as well as my bedroom window.

I changed curtains on my bedroom window and 'cleaned' the glass. I grabbed a spray bottle that said 'glass cleaner' I should have been suspicious that it wasn't blue (lol). It left a film on the window that I couldn't wince off. Looking at the bottle closer I read 'automotive glass cleaner' so apparently it has soap in it. Oh well, the curtain covers it up (lol).

I usually use chocolate syrup and milk for hot chocolate but my daughter picked up a can of Stephen's Belgian Dark Chocolate powder the other day. Oh, that's good. I think Hershey lost a customer (lol).

Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over?

I enjoyed your note.

We had beautiful weather here and I went for a couple of walks yesterday.  It sounds like your walk with your grands was really very very nice.  Simple things like that are what life is about.

There is so much sickness and grief these days.  We need to find some happy times.
