Do you print some? or all? Leave them on your computer? Put them on a disk?

For me the computer is the most fun for my photos. But alas, for me printing them just does not satisfy my pickyness when it comes to what they look like.

I was thinking that I should maybe take a photo printing class or something but then will I need a printer just for photos? I have not tried very often I did get one that was ok but for me the color just don't come out right or they aren't as sharp as I think they should be.

When I go to a reunion and really need to pass out some photos (to people without computers) I go to Harold's or Kodak and have them do it.

What do you do? Are you happy with the ones you print out?

One of my sisters one time was printing out photos and they were not good very green or fuzzy and she snapped at me ...."well at least I have a photo"

I never quite knew what she meant about that except that mine were still on my computer.....lol...

Do you need paper prints?

What do you think?

Store it in computer with the full size.
Resize them to 800X600 and upload selected ones to social networks, picasa/flickr.

Most people buy a printer with little regard to how a picture will look when printed. They just buy a printer, and most do a very unsatisfactory job of printing pictures.

They all do wonderful word processing documents, and the like, but pictures are something else.

Mine does great photos, but it's no longer made.

We print a few, which I usually use to make various types of notecards, and scrapbook cards instead of scrapping pictures and putting them in an album.

We also have a digital frame that we load with pictures, and swap out the cards so there are updated photos in it.

I use them on my computer for a screensaver, desktop background, and just sometimes look at them the way people look at a hardcopy photo album.

ALL of them are BACKED UP on a CD or DVD. This is something that needs to be done regularly. CDs are not designed to last forever... only about 5 years. So, even if your pictures are on CD, you need to move them to a NEW CD every few years.

CS Monitor.com says

This double complication (even if the CDs are pristine, programs and hardware can grow obsolete) led the Library of Congress to warn people to "never use rewritable discs for long-term storage... they often fail within a few years. The backup discs you make today may become damaged or obsolete in the future."

CDs and DVDs can be part of your backup plan, it says. They are, after all, inexpensive, compact, and portable.

But don't rely on them alone.

Especially when it comes to digital photos, the Library of Congress suggests a three-pronged approach: save them to discs or USB flash drives, upload them to online storage sites such as Flickr.com, and print out copies with archive-quality ink. Then, when CD-Rs, flash drives, or websites become outdated, move everything to their replacements.

Also, know that blank CD-Rs don't last as long as used discs -- think five to 10 years shelf life. That may be plenty of time, considering the speed of overturning technology. CDs may feel like 8-tracks in five years

I think your right about having a printer that prints photos. But I was kind of cheap or I would have one for docs and one for photos......lol....

I find that I really don't need paper photos unless it is for people that don't have computers......lol

It is nice being right.
