I've got a new problem that really baffles me.  One out of three times that I open my home page(it's a Dell/Google page on IE) my screen freezes.  It doesn't matter from where I open it, the desktop icon, the menu, another site etc.   I can walk away and in about 5 minutes I get a message that there is a problem and the page will be closed.  I then get that message about reporting the problem which I do about half the time.  I have no problem with anything else opening even though they are Internet Explorer.  I have Windows XP and IE8.  Suggestions?  Thanks for any help...Judy

The first and fastest thing I would do is to make sure you have all your Windows updates.... then do a clean up. Open IE and go to Tools ,Internet Options and clear out the Temporary Internet files, cookies and anything else you want to delete....Remember when you may have to sign into some places again but at least you know that all the junk is out of there.

I have never used the Preserve Favorites website data....I will have to do that some time....LOL

See if that helps.

It is nice being right-once in a while.

Update on my dilemma.  I went to the Dell support page and then followed their suggestion in FAQ.  After successfully bringing up my Home Page I went to "compatibility view settings" and added the page.   They seemed aware that some pages are not compatible to IE8.  It was too easy.  Let's hope it works.   Judy
