Hi, this is my first time posting, but I’ve been lurking around for awhile lOl I haven’t found a topic answering my question yet so I decided to finally just ask it myself. My boyfriend and I have not yet had sex, but we do fool around a bit. One of the things he (and I) enjoy is when he places his penis against my entrance but doesn’t actually insert it. What are the risks, if any, in something like this? I’ve read that pre-cum can contain sperm so I was wondering if there was any risk of pregnancy. We don’t use condoms when we’re just playing around or performing oral as STD’s are not an issue with either of us. I feel like this is a basic sex-ed question that I should know the answer too lOl, but I’m not exactly sure and it didn’t really occur to me until recently. We’ve only started playing around a few weeks ago, so it hasn’t really been that long. I would appreciate any input from you guys :)

Thanks,

- Steph

Yes, pre-cum can contain sperm and you can get pregnant from that kind of sex play.  Pre-cum is there when a man becomes aroused, long before ejaculation.  Penetration is not necessary for you to get pregnant, all it takes is sperm to come in contact with your vaginal moisture and those little buggers have one thing in mind and that's to swim upstream to find the egg.   It only takes ONE sperm to get you pregnant.  If you're going to have this kind of sex play and pregnancy is not something you want, he should have a condom on as soon as he gets an erection or get yourself on birth control.

Here is a rundown of the life span of sperm.

1.  Right inside the vagina or at the entrance to the vagina, sperm can live for a few hours.

2.  Once it is in the female reproductive tract beyond the cervix sperm lives for 5 - 7 days (reason why you can get pregnant if you have unprotected sex at any time *including having your period* when you are not ovulating)  You don't always conceive the day that you have sex, you can conceive up to 7 days after having sex.

3.  Outside the body in air it has a very short life span because it needs moisture to survive.  The general rule is, if there is wet semen the sperm in the semen can still be alive.  Once the semen is dry, the sperm are dead.

It's been a long road getting from there to here.  I know the wind’s so cold, I’ve seen the darkest days.  But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.   I've been thru the fire and I've been thru the rain,

Thanks for the information, that was the answer i was scared of tho lOl I'm hoping everything is ok...pregnancy is not something i am ready for. I am looking into going on the pill but i do have a couple concerns. I have read about the various side effects and the comments made by other people but i would like to know what, if any, side effects may occur with respect to fertility after going off of the pill? Someday i want a family and i do not want to risk not being able to do this by going on the pill. I understand how the pill works and all, i just havent found much info about this aspect. I know this would be a question for my doctor (im going on wednesday) but do insurance plans generally cover the pill? I will not be in the same city as my family doctor where i am covered by my dad's insurance but i do not want to pay the fee for a local walk in clinic where i will be living :P

Thanks again

hey. so far, there is no evidence that taking the pill now ruins chances for getting pregnant later in life. they say that the bc pill is a completely reversible form of birth control, meaning as soon as you stop taking it, your body starts ovulating again. so if you get the go ahead from your doctor, do it. as for insurance, i think it just depends on if your plan has a prescription plan. mine currently doesn't, so i stinkin have to pay like 50 bucks per month. it's kind of expensive, but i need it not for sex but to regulate my period, so it's worth it. save money in other areas and then bite the bullet and pay it if it's something that will really help you out.
