We all have fond memories of television shows over the years; the ones we watched as children, as teens and in later years. Thanks to a variety of stations like TV Land, etc., we can still take a trip down memory lane for a revisit to a number of those oldies.

But which ones do you think could stand the transition to today's world? What canceled television show would you like to see revamped and brought back?

You know what I miss? Variety shows...the Carol Burnette Show was one of my favorites years ago. (Ok, I really dated myself with that one, didn't I?) But really, it was so much fun to see the skits they did and with a host of special guests. It was kind of like a family version of Saturday Night Live, toned way, way down.

Glad you came out of lurkdom to share! Tim Conway always did crack me up. One of the things I loved about the skits on the Carol Burnette Show was when old Harvey would turn red, struggling to keep from laughing at Tim Conway's antics. There was no way to watch it without giggling ;-)

Yes those were great shows! I also remember Ed Sulivan and Red Skeleton too. I loved The Loretta Young Theater too (not that it was a variety show). There are soooo many good ol shows back in the good ol days. Things were so clean and simple then.

I'll date myself too!  I loved the Carol Burnett show too!

As a family, we used to watch so many shows together and laugh like crazy.  The antics of The Dukes of Hazard - which my brother is watching on DVD with his own son now.  The cascades of BJ and the Bear and Knight Rider.  The Drama of Dallas.

However, I don't think any of these shows today would really be liked because they're so dated.

On one channel here, they're showing Little House on the Prairie and Dr Quinn Medicine Woman and because they are period shows, they don't lose their charm.

What I'd realy like to see or find on DVD is the mini series we used to enjoy.  I have found The Winds of War but not Marco Polo.  I'd also like to see the Last Days of Pompei series in DVD.  And that one about the irish immigrants, I forget the name of it.
