It's my daughter's 19th birthday this week and I thought I'd give her list of rules she could refer to when I'm not around. Here it is, any suggestions are appreciated. Some are serious, some are more lighthearted but I thought she might find it amusing at least.
1. In Monopoly, buy the orange properties.
2. Nothing good ever happens after 3am. I promise.
3. Take your sunglasses off indoors, even in the mall.
4. If you get yourself in serious trouble call me anytime.
5. Don’t be the last to leave a party, but don’t be the first either
6. Know how to drive in your own city.
7. Have a favourite painting.
8. Don’t call things by their brands, they are still just shoes and sunglasses.
9. Don’t lose your cool unless you’re still in control when you do it.
10. Keep your word.
11. Avoid annoying affections before they become habits.
12. There is rarely a need to raise your voice. A sporting event is one.
13. Always wear clothes with pockets when flying.
14. Don’t be late.
15. Read the paper
16. Always remember to thank your hosts and send thank you cards for gifts.
17. Always keep water in the fridge.
18. Learn how to change a tire.
19. If unsure whether to call or not, the answer is always to call.
20. Never drive when you’re tired – ever.
21. Learn how to cook at least 3 things without a recipe.
22. Never get a tattoo you can’t see.
23. Never get a tattoo you can see.
24. Never ask for advice if you have no intentions of following it.
