So I'm sure we've all been following the headlines and heard the sordid details about the Governor Sanford of South Carolina and his MIA/trek on the Appalacian Trail/Argentinian Romp. If you haven't watched his press conference, by all means, it's actually quite humorous. Even the reporters in the background are laughing because it's downright unbelievable just how all over the place this guy is...and he just kept on talking and talking....like watching a car accident, don't wanna look but you gotta.
But anyway, to the issue at hand.....Let me just say that as these different scandals have come out I've found myself trying to defend these women in the sense that this is their private issue and that we all deal with matters as we can, it's between the couple etc. However after this last of what appears to be a stream of recent scandals of this nature, I'm starting to wonder just HOW BAD does it have to get for these women to say "alright, enough is enough". When it's as much as a trend like this I can't help but wonder what message is being to society and the children of these families. To me it seems that the message is "Daddy can violate the terms of his marriage in the most basic way and Mommy's job is to try and work things out and repair the marriage" I mean with this Sanford guy who said that he and his wife had been "working on their marriage" then just impulsively decides that he needs to go down to Argentina to finalize things for 5 days? Who does that? and even worse, who puts up with that? Lately, it seems like these haven't been just affairs but there seem to me extenuating circumstances that make things particularly more awful. The Clinton thing was huge but honestly he's looking like a boyscout to me in comparison with these latest scandals. Am I the only person who can't wait for the day when one of these women decides to tell her husband to go pound sand and that he better have a good divorce attorney?
"If you haven't got anything nice to say, come sit by me"
