Spitzer prosecuted prostitution rings in the past:

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. “It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

Spitzer is a disgrace and a complete hypocrite. He should resign. I hope he is prosecuted for breaking the law and has to live with the consequences like any other John.

Isn't it nice that no one is doing the "Ha! Ha! He's a Democrat"" dance...except for Ms. Simpson's usual swipe at Republican's, of course. I applaud my fellow Republicans for their restraint.

Hey...as I say...throw the book at him.  I have no problem with him being punished if he commits crimes.  If he's a hypocrite, then he's a hypocrite.  If he doesn't resign, you can bet he won't be reelected.

I'm not sure how it works, but can you continue to serve in public office if you've committed a crime? Is it a felony in NY to hire a prostitute?

Hypocrisy runs on both sides of the aisle!  These guys do such a disservice to their collegues.  He's gotta go!
