Next Saturday at noon, we get the keys to our first house! Very exciting!

We have a lot going on in the coming week, with the end of the packing, preparing to move all the boxes and furniture, an appt or two and the kidlet's 2nd birthday!

We're also not sure whether the phone company is disconnecting our line on Saturday or Sunday. They've promised us the new line will be done Sunday or Monday, so I'm crossing my fingers they're right. Don't want to be offline for long or I'll go crazy! ;)

Congratulations, Becca! I just had to pop over and ask... have you gotten settled in enough to really start enjoying your new place? Come on and brag a little... becoming a homeowner is a real milestone!

I sure hope the move went well and the phone company got your line all set up. I'm always a little leery of their "promises" cause I haven't had great experiences with them!

When I was pregnant with my last child, we closed on our home and set the moving date, with the phone company saying they would turn on the service on our new home while keeping it active at the house we were moving from... a necessity since I was a week past my due date. (This was before cell phones were the norm around here)

That morning, as I was packing the last of the kitchen stuff, DH had to check on the store he was managing before we made our first load to the new place. As luck would have it, 10 minutes after he left, I went into labor. When I picked up the phone to call dh... you guess it -- a totally dead phone!

Thankfully, my neighbor was home, so my then 16 year old son went next door to call his dad. The poor boy was so freaked out, my neighbor nearly called the ambulance for him! LOL Good thing we only lived 5 minutes from dh's store. And the adrenaline rush my oldest son experienced resulted in a totally packed and moved household before the night was over! He called his friends over and they moved everything, lock, stock and barrel. Had the house pretty much set up by the next day. Come to think of it, that was probably the easiet move I've ever had! LOL

I'm so glad we got the move done before Baby's arrival! It was a lot of work to pack up, but when Hubby's co-workers came to load the moving van and a couple of pickup trucks, they did an amazing job getting it all out of there and into the new place. :)

We did have to wait a couple days past what we'd been promised, but when the tech showed, all went smoothly. Hubby came home from work 'cause my doc had been adamant I get flu shots that day at another obstetrics clinic and by the time I was back, the tech was on to the next address and Hubby had the wireless network set up for us to use!

It's been so busy with unpacking, organising and taking care of so many little errands that I haven't had much online time without feeling brain-dead, but I'm back now until Baby comes! (17 days till my due date!) I'll work on getting photos of the current furniture arrangement - Tim's room is the one that has gone through most of the changes because I find that I don't want him to be tempted to climb from this to that, etc.

How cool that your hubby's co-workers came out to help and were so efficient!

Are you guys celebrating Thanksgiving in your new home or are you letting someone else do the cookiing? That due date is coming up fast! ;-)

We had Thanksgiving in October, so no holidays this month. Just the regular cooking to do and even though my deep freeze isn't available at this point, the fridge freezer seems to have enough room to get a little bit of meal prep done for the days after Baby's birth. (So far I have some chili, chicken pot pie filling and shepherd's pie. Maybe Hubby will treat me to Chinese takeout, Subway and take & bake pizza while he's home from work in the first few weeks. LOL)
