Today on the Today Show®

It was my understanding from an announcement that Matt Lauer made on the Today Show several weeks ago that the Today Show would have the EXCLUSIVE interview with Mr. Sullenberger.  A couple of days after his announcement, he then announced that the show had been asked to please allow the investigation to be completed before doing the interview, to which they agreed.  He continued by saying that they had been guaranteed and assured that the Today Show would still have exclusivity.  Therefore, I was shocked when I saw that Katie Couric was doing this interview on last night's "60 Minutes", which she did do. 

My question is, how, then, did Katie Couric and "60 Minutes" poach this interview???  I'd like to know the details of what happened because I would imagine that Matt et al. must be very angry and embarrassed about this, since this was and continues to be a huge story.  Does anybody know any of the details about this?
