I thought we could have a discussion about what we've noticed our 'skinny' friends do to stay that way. I have at least one friend that literally does nothing to stay skinny, but she has incredible muscle tone and was Ms Fitness USA about 5 years ago so she doesn't count! But the majority of my friends are thin and I've noticed a few things that they do that I don't do!

#1 They never drink soda. They may have a glass of wine or beer, but they never drink soda.

#2 They go out of their way to get water. Instead of soda at parties, they are always asking where the water is. When I go to a party, the first thing I look for is a coke because I feel that parties are like a 'free zone'. I can eat whatever I want at a party.

That's all I can think of for now.

I was in the overweight range 3 years ago and reached my gw last summer. I am controlling since last summer.  I do drink water a lot and drink about a cup of water before all my meals. I also drink water because I do up to 2 hours of workouts.

This is not so much from my 'skinny' friends but from my fit freinds.  It was one of my biggest revelations.  People who are in good physical shape make the time to plan their meals.  I always felt like having to plan to have healthy food available was a punishment for being fat.  After all, you can get a bag of chips and a hershey bar on every block.

When I started working out, it was just amazing to me the effort and planning that my trainer put in to making sure he had enough nutritious food with him to eat during the day.  I realized that planning your food was a sign that you care about yourself.

Gosh, I cannot stress how much I agree and live by planning.  There is no way I could lead a healthy lifestyle if I relied on being completely spontaneous when it came to healthy eating.  I HAVE to plan out my meals, and before the meals for the day is gone, I know what I'm eating tomorrow.  It is so important to plan.  You make the best choices this way.

My cousin that's in the military takes healthy food with her to parties and gatherings.  She doesn't eat the cakes, hot dogs, etc.  She's very fit and healthy and that's how she stays that way...by planning to carry healthy food with her when she knows there are not-so-healthy options around.

My skinny friends have always done something that I find difficult:  They eat to satisfy hunger and stop eating when they're full.  I eat to satisfy hunger, but I also eat to enjoy the taste of the food.  I have a hard time recognizing when my hunger is satisfied and quit eating.
