It can be very hard to stay motivated when your circumstances are not right.  I own a treadmill because I know it would be very difficult to get to the gym with two small children.  My "gym" is my living room.  If you're going to buy a treadmill, I HIGHLY suggest getting one the day after Thanksgiving.  I got my $2,600 treadmill for HALF OFF the day after Thanksgiving!!!  Yes....a Reebok treadmill, very durable, for only $1,300.

Getting past the first couple of days is THE HARDEST!!!!  I believe that this journey requires a certain frame of mind.  We have to accept that undesirable circumstances will come our way, but we dont' have to accept giving in to them.  I'm learning that this journey has to be about more than just losing weight.  It's a learning process all around.  About who you are, your relationship with food, how you accept your circumstances and how you persevere through hard times.  We are not perfect through this journey, but we do not give up!  Create your plan for success.  Really.  Write it down.  Make it reasonable.  Then decide how bad you want it.  If you want it bad enough, follow through.  Execute it.  Believe that you can do it.  And you will.  :o)

Have you tried looking on craigslist.. Sometimes you'll find some good deals there.

go to http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites   then you can narrow it down by state then city.  then on the left hand side of the screen you can type treadmill in the search field.

I totally feel for you.  I have the same problems.  Honestly being fat and continuing bad habits are easy.   Its so much quicker to just pick up food (and lets face it, some kids prefer that junk).  Its very hard to learn new ways.  I've also heard that it takes 3 weeks to learn something new, so take it day by day.  I live with the idea that if I totally complete my goals today, can reward my self tomorrow.  I honestly give myself the idea that I cant have the fries today but I can tomorrow. I just have to live with out for one day.  The when tomorrow comes, I start again, promising myself the fries again...tomorrow.

Good Luck

Hi Mandy,

I know it can be frustrating.  And sometimes you're just not able to say "no" to something you want to eat but shouldn't.  I have always loved fast food.  But one thing that helped me there was to take a look at the nutritional information in my favorite fast food meals.  When I saw the amount of fat, cholestoral, sodium and calories I was putting in my body for 1 meal, it became much easier to say "No, I do not want to eat that".

Remember that this is a day at a time - sometimes a minute at a time.  There is no such thing as perfection when you're developing a new relationship with food and activity.  Just hang in there, and DO (any time) feel free to vent out here.  That's one of the many reasons we're here.

Liz
