I started spinning almost two months ago and have gotten strong in it recently. I push myself to go fast at a very high resistance all the time. I am able to maintain a good speed without compromising my breath. This seems to annoy one of the spinning instructors who always makes his way to me during the class and tells me nastily that I am going too fast. Today he told the class to put their resistance at 70% and I made sure to lower mine to 80%, so he wouldn't bother me. Once again he came only to me and I was going at my usual pace when he asked me nastily: "What are you doing here?. You're supposed to be at 70%". I was confused about his question and said I was. He scoffed and said "you call that 70%" very loudly, then he lowered the resistance to 90%. I looked around and saw that my lever was at a much more difficult level than any other person's in the room. He walked away and I shouted that I was at a resistance higher than everyone around me. The point is my reaction seemed rather nasty and I didn't want to offend anyone in the class, but I think maybe I did. I don't know what the heck is up with this spin instructor. Shouldn't I be allowed to go at a pace comfortable for me in the class? Thanks

Wow I'm suprised. I think you should ALWAYS go at a pace that is comfortable to you. I thought that was "law" when it came down to spinning classes. I've had many many instructors and I had never heard an instructor do anything like that. Best thing to do is change when you go to class, find another gym where they offer them, even complain about the instructor, the instructor sounds like a total jerk. Ewww.
