A few changes I've made ...

  • From white bread to whole wheat - did this about 8 years ago and it took a bit to get used to but now I love not only whole wheat but various others like 12 grain, yum!
  • From whole milk to 2% - I did this when I moved out of my parents into my own place more than 25 years ago. Whole milk is too rich for me.
  • From regular yogurt to low fat, yummy!
  • From regular sour cream to low fat - this one I'm still not used to and basically I'd rather cut out sour cream lol!

"From regular sour cream to low fat - this one I'm still not used to and basically I'd rather cut out sour cream lol! "  ~  Not me!!  I was so happy when they came out with fat free sour cream!!  I think it makes a great substitute for heavy cream in many soup recipes etc.  : )

I've made the same changes you have, only to skim milk and fat free yogurt & sour cream.  Cheese is harder - it's difficult to find skim milk cheeses here.  We use part skim mozzarella a lot though.

I never thought to try the low fat sour cream in soups but now I think I will, thanks!

I love mozzarella, I wish the husb did as well but he is stuck on aged cheddar. Maybe I can sneak mozzarella into the house when we've run out of cheddar, he'll eat it then hehe :)

I actually increased my water intake (from 0 to 4 bottles ad ay), cut the sodas, and added a huge salad to my lunch everyday.  I have noticed a big difference in the way my clothes fit, I feel much happier, and my digestive system is working wonderfully!  I know this is a "Duh" moment, but when you are stressed and out of time, all the high-fat, high-calorie, eat-while-driving foods worked best.  Not anymore.  I have also began to take the time to sit down and eat.  I have become much more aware of what I am eating.  Who knew these little changes could make a big difference?  I am loving it!

I was surprised at the difference water makes.  I've never totally bought into the whole needing 8 glasses a day above and beyond what you're already getting in food, other drinks, etc .... but all I know is when I drink water I lose weight, and when I don't I either sit there or gain!  That's all I need to know, lol!  ;o)  I do add either Crystal Light, Lipton or Nestea singles to mine though, most of the time.  Green tea with lemon.
