I am in need to get back to the keys and accountability too.  I have returned to healhty eating and exercise but am realizing that I am in "diet" mentality and therefore feeling deprived rather than healthy lifestyle.  I just realized yesterday that part of this is because I not been eating snacks with meals which often leaves me famished at meal time and also I don't think I am drinking enough water.

We have a flu virus in our house now so things are not normal, but I need to be gearing up for when we are better to suceed rather than letting this derail me completely.

I need to start planning to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, drinking at least 64 oz of water a day.  Making sure that I have veggies/fruit through out the day.

What helps you to stay on track?

Yay! I'm so glad you're back too, Alice! I definitely think the small meals throughout the day helps a lot.

Also keeping junk out of the house helps me tremendously, as evidenced by the fact that I bought (and opened --- grrrr....what was I thinking?) Halloween candy today and I've been struggling ever since. :(

Honestly I've had about 200 cal. of tootsie rolls. But it is so clear to me that if I don't keep it in the house than I'm not eating it!

Hi Alice.  Welcome back!!!!!  Right now what is really helping me stay on track is that I downloaded the audio CD on my Ipod so when I am working late rather than listening to music I have that on.  I figure subconciously it has to do some good.  I also find that preparing my meals in advance when I am not hungry helps because once I get too hungry I don't care what I eat I just eat the food that is closest to me at the time.  Hope everyone in your house is feeling better soon.  Hope you post often :)

Welcome back, Alice!

Glad to see you're taking steps to make things better for yourself. Sorry to hear about the flu bug, we are experiencing the exact same thing here at home. Hope you all feel better soon.

Stephanie.

Ingrid

I agree that I do better if I keep the junk out of the house, but I wonder if by doing that I am doing my kids a disservice.  IE if I buy a pack of oreos EVERYONE in the house gorges themselves and they are gone in 24-48 hrs.  I don't want my kids (now 6 and 8) to struggle with the same problems I do.  So how do I teach them to enjoy junk in moderation only?

Thanks all for the welcome back, hopefully will be healthy enough soon to think about more than going back to bed!
