my dbf has been doing a pre-flush for awhile now. basically, he's eating the proper foods and eliminating the bad ones. he's not doing the cranwater and just does flaxseed & oil when i make him a smoothy or put it on our food. he's lost 20lbs just changing what he eats which is great. i've got him eating 1-2 ff carbs a day. he has a underactive thyroid, so he takes a generic form of synthroid. lately he's been feeling sluggish, energyless. some days he feels good when he eats on schedule and eats a sweet potato with his lunch, etc. if he doesn't eat on a "schedule" he gets real sluggish... tired... the about to pass out feeling. i know he gets to eat more protein & ff carbs than us women... but does anyone have any ideas on what he can do or might be doing wrong. he shouldn't go from feeling fine to feeling energyless within an hour of not eating something... has any other men experienced this? he's going in tomorrow to have bloodwork done to check his thyroid, etc... just curious if anyone else has experienced this. thanks :)

Have you read the details of how much extra men get on FF. They need 4 carbs a day and half as much protein again as we have. And they need to eat at least every three hours.

As for the thyroid part of your questiuon I have referred higher for advice and will get back to you!!!

i read that in the book but i guess i missed 4 carbs & double the protein part. we'll try that. and he's going to the doc just to check to make sure his meds are at the right level too. that could be playing a part in it. thanks linda!

I have heard back from ALG who says that you should  "add some salt to his noon meal AND to make sure there is sufficient protein". So you should be looking at a minimum of 12 ounces of protein a day in addition to a smoothie and the two eggs.

Hope that helps....
