Is there such a thing as drinking too much water? I drank 70 ounces of water today and I feel and look so bloated! I look like I'm pregnant! I believe someone on this board wrote a way to figure out how much you are suppose to drink for your body. I think it was half of your body weight in pounds. Is that right? Does anyone else feel like this after drinking their water intake? Lori
Lori- you know there are just some days where water will do that to you. There are several 'rules of thumb' out there now....so it's hard to know for sure; how much?
I would say not less than 60-64oz is ideal. Some say half you weight....others say the 8x8 glasses, others say more.
Here's a couple of links to help (confuse you even more- LOL)
That was a great question! I was actually going to post something similar because my goal is 102 oz. of water a day. I have a 52 oz. bottle of water and I aim to get 2 of them in in a day. I'm beginning to wonder if after reading the links you posted, IG, that's a good idea or not. KWIM?
I believe the water intoxication really only affects those who hydrate themselves faster than us 'regular' folk (like marathon runners).....plus I think you'd have to drink a helluva lot more than 102- there's a number of people I know who drink about that much- and they're fine ;-)
I think that most of "regular" folk will never have to worry about too much water. Just getting in enough each day is our challenge. The general rule is though that water will help flush fluids, all though like anything else, the results can vary.
