Well the big story up here is that one of our hockey teams in the province were able to set up their own H1N1 clinic and get vaccinated along with their family members. (Read More) A health official has now been fired over this, and people are outraged as they've shut down all clinics here due to overwhelming response and not enough vaccines. They are slowly reopening but only to the highest risk patients.

Earlier this week I hear a pediatrician say - that if you have flu like symptoms it's almost 100% that it's H1N1, but that we are now at teh peak of the outbreak and it takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to become effective in our bodies, so some people may not really need it at all.

What do you think? Paranoia or precaution?

I know that there have been some very serious cases of H1N1 and people dying from it as well. I don't know enough facts to know whether those are the people that already have underlying health conditions or not and therefore in a bigger risk category anyway but it is a very serious thing.

Personally as you guys probably already know - at the advice of the pediatrician - my kids and I will not be getting the H1N1 shot or mist but we did get out regular flu shots. The cases of H1N1 my pediatrician has seen have been relatively mild - made better by lots of rest and liquids. She doesn't have the H1N1 shot and will not carry or take it. In her opinion it was manufactured too fast and not tested on enough people before it was sent out to the general public. The kids and I are practicing good handwashing, hand sanitizer use, and not putting our hands near our faces (esp. mouth & nose).
